DON QUIXOTE REIMAGINED

Our goal was to strip away the literal representation of Don Quixote de la Mancha to reveal the very essence of the character. By modifying the classic silhouette into a more fragmented and expressive form, we shifted the focus from the character to the textures of his journey, creating a piece that feels both ancient and experimental.

The Texture of Chivalry: Don Quixote Reimagined

In this piece, we focus intensely on the development of unique and specialized textures to define the character's "armor." We moved away from polished finishes and instead used a series of layered casting techniques to create a rough, hammered, and worn surface that evokes a lifetime of wandering under the Spanish sun. The modification of its shape—elongated, curved, and seated in a moment of quiet reflection—creates a powerful contrast with the heavy and tactile heft of the bronze. By placing a delicate and vibrant flower in its hand, we highlight the duality of the sculpture: the hard and unyielding "protection" of the armor against the soft idealism of the soul that inhabits it. This project demonstrates our ability to take a recognizable historical figure and transform it into a contemporary study of surface, soul, and metalworking.
